Let's Boogie!

We had the Bobcat Boogie on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Our school sets up the Bobcat Boogie. If you are in track the track coach says you should do it, it is great exercises. But you should still do it anyway if you aren’t in track. There is a 5k and fun run race. The 5k is 3.3 miles and the fun run is one simple mile. The 5k race was at 9:30 and the fun run was at 10:30. At the start line there were papers that said a time so that you try to get the time and they have the pace you should go for each mile. At the race there was rewards for the winners. The winner for all of the race he did the 5k race in 15 minutes. WOW! The winners got a gift card. There are winners in each age group. There were bouncy houses, rock wall, hair dye stand, cotton candy machine, and many other things. There is food too. Some food they had was bananas, bagels, fruit snacks, water, gatorade, breakfast burrito, and you got a goody bag. That was the Bobcat Boogie. Come join us next year. Just register and have fun.

March Madness!

It is truly madness! For boys health our teacher had us fill out a bracket for who we want to win the bracket. Our teacher also included a few adults to join our bracket. A few of the adults are the principle of our school, our IT Director, and our vicar (student pastor). He doesn’t care but he gives the winner a small cake. Our teacher just decides a random way to fill out the bracket, it is funny and many students do random stuff to. I think more teachers should do stuff like this cause students can be serious with this or just be silly.  It is also good friendly competition against classmates. Students also like it cause no matter how much you know basketball you never know what can happen so you can win by guessing. Since we just had Spring Break some students haven’t watched many games so they are ready to see their bracket since they made it. They are also probably wondering what their score is and how many people they are beating. The final championship game is on April 8, 2019. We will soon see who the best person at guessing teams is at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School.

We need more lunch!

I think we need more lunch varieties at Bethlehem Lutheran. Our school gives us a tray that gives us fruits, vegetables, grains, and proteins which meets the Jefferson County Public Health Standards. As the school year goes on in middle school we start to grow and get more hungry, but our school really does not know that. Our school should give as a variety of options of school lunches so that we are able to fill up on our school lunch. If we had a variety of choices. It would have to be a buffet because all the students at the school would get to choose what they want and be happy with it. If all the students were happy with the lunch that we ate there would be no more complaining with what we eat at Bethlehem Lutheran. Kids in middle school should be able to go back for unlimited seconds. On top of that we should be able to have water and have drink choices because our school only has milk for an option and some students cannot have dairy. If we were able to choose what we get the school lunch ladies will not here complains from the students of Bethlehem.

Track Has Started!

Track has started? Bethlehem Lutheran School has a track team that is really fast. There is one kid on the team that is fast like an average sophomore in high school. The events in track are 100 meters, 200 meters,400 meters, 800 meters, 1600 meters, shot put, discus, high jump, long jump, medley, and relays. There are a lot of people that I know that attend this school and a coach who does not attend this school that have made Bethlehem track records. There is one tall kid that was six feet tall that made the school record last year in hurdles His is distance/time was 18.59s. My basketball coach actually also made a record in track for Bethlehem His record was in shot put and his distance was 43’ 9.25”. If you didn't know the races are what you on run in track so you can run in different lanes for either 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1600 meters. Shot put is where you get either a six pound ball for women and a eight pound ball for men and you throw it as far as you can. High jump is when you jump over a bar without it falling. Long jump is when you run down in a certain area and jump into a sandbox as far as you can jump. Medley is a relay where there are four runners each running  a 100 meter than another 100 meter run than a 200 meter then a 400 meter run.

Fast Kid Club!

Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School’s Fast Kid Club otherwise known as track has had one track meet that was supposed to be at Rock Canyon High School but that track meet got postponed to a different day.  One way that can get a track meet canceled is if the weather is not the best. Another way it can get canceled is a  change of plans for the school or field that the track meet that it is held at. They have already had three track meets so far. The first official track meet they had was on  Thursday, April 18th at Platte Valley Middle School, that was there first track meet and it did not get canceled. They waited five days to get to the next track meet that was on  April 23rd at Fort Lupton Middle School. So after the track meet at Fort Lupton Middle School the next track meet will be held at Bear Creek High School on April 27th. Now onto the track meets that are going on in May of 2019. The first one of May is on May first at Englewood high school. Then they head to Lutheran High School for the Denver Area Lutheran School (DALS)  track meet on May 4th. Than their last track meet is on May 11th at Cherry Hills Christian.

The Amazing Tournaments!

Do you want to know how all the basketball tournaments went for our teams? Well the team that played first was the Junior Varsity girls (fifth and sixth grade). They played at Peace with Christ in Aurora, Colorado They played St. John’s first and they beat them in the first round of the tournament. After that they played Zion Brighton, and beat Zion Brighton then sent Zion to the losers bracket. Then immediately after they beat Zion they played Shepherd of the Hills, they played a game and beat them too and Bethlehem Bobcats were in the championship game against Zion again. During the championship game they played a game and once again won that game and won the whole championship. The trophy they brought home was our third trophy this year for basketball!
Then the Junior Varsity boys tournament that was hosted at Shepherd of the Hills in Highlands Ranch. Our Junior Varsity boys went into the tournament strong and were waiting to play as hard as they can. Bethlehem played Gethsemane first, they beat them. Then they went on to play St. Johns and they lost that game and went to the losers bracket. They played Shepherd of the Hills and beat them and played really hard. After that game they played Peace with Christ and they won. Then they played St. John’s and kicked them out of the tournament. They went to the championship game and it was against Zion and they were tired and lost to them but they brought home another trophy.

        Will We Win?

Get hyped! The basketball season is starting to come to an end. We only have a few games left before the tournaments start. The tournament is always fun and intense. Zion Lutheran (Zion) is always really good and usually beats our JV teams. It is usually very fun and nerve-racking when both varsities play. Our boys varsity won the tournament last year against St. John’s in the championship game. Our boys JV team got sixth place in their tournament last year and got beat by Zion’s fifth grade team. Our girls JV placed second in their tournament last year and got beat by St. Johns. Varsity girls placed second last year and lost to St. John’s last year too. This year we are all going to try and beat St. Johns and Zion this year. The JV girls had a tournament last weekend it was on February 2, 2018. The JV boys have a tournament this weekend on February 9, 2019. The JV boys tournament contains six great teams. The JV girls tournament contains five really tough teams. The varsity girls tournament has four good teams. The varsity boys tournament has five hard teams. All of the teams in each tournament are difficult and hard to beat. That is why we want to get hyped and play a fun and competitive game.

The Amazing Basketball Teams at Bethlehem!

Basketball is here and Bethlehem is ready to play. Bethlehem is in the middle of its basketball season, and this season’s teams are going strong. Did you know that Bethlehem has many teams including a first-second grade boys and the third-fourth and girls basketball team, JV boys and JV girls team, and a boys and girls varsity team.  Now that we have only one gym to practice in, the gym has teams practicing almost every night of the week at various times.  Games for all teams are in full swing.  All teams have won and lost some games making it an exciting season.  The coach for the first-fourth grade girls team is Ms. Cattau.  She says,” All of the girls improved and almost all of the girls scored a basket. We won all of our games and have  came in first. I am proud of all twelve of our bobcats out for JV Boys basketball this season.
JV boys coach is Mr. Richter. He says ¨ This year on our team we have six sixth and six fifth graders. I´m very proud of my team. These boys are exciting to watch. I can’t wait for the end of the season and the tournament.”
Varsity girls’ coach is Mr. Bradley.  He says,¨ Our season is going well and were learning a lot . we are five and two. I like coaching because it’s a lot of fun.¨
Varsity boys’ coaches are Jeremy Campbell, Matt Ramey, Billy Braasch, and Head Coach Naas.   These coaches roots run deep at Bethlehem.  Many of these coaches have kids who have played for Bethlehem.
In closing, Bethlehem has many amazing basketball teams and coaches at Bethlehem.

Basketball Starting!

Basketball is just starting for the new school year. Basketball has started for the J.V. (Junior Varsity) Girls, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys. J.V. Boys are not starting until the Monday after Thanksgiving, November 26th. The reason that J.V. Boys have not started yet is because the coach of J.V. Boys is also the coach of the Faith Football Team, their still playing and Coach Richter cannot take any time off. Games do not start for everyone until December 3rd. The fifth grade boys and girls are super excited to join the J.V. Girls and the J.V. Boys. The sixth graders from last year´s league is also excited to move on and join Varsity Girls or Varsity Boys. The number of players have narrowed down because lots of people do not know how to play basketball. Last year the Varsity Boys got first place in last year's tournament, the Varsity Girls got second, the J.V. Girls got second place, and J.V. Boys got sixth place. All teams are aiming to be better than the previous year, except the Varsity Boys. Everyone knows that winning is not everything and that basketball is a competitive game, but to have fun and a good time.

Bobcat Tournaments!

The J.V. girls volleyball team for Bethlehem Lutheran School took first place in the D.A.L.S. (Denver Area Lutheran Schools) tournament! Their win to lose ratio was about fourteen to one they were very good! They played Saint John’s first. Quinn Eckhoff spiked the ball three times and won that game. Then they played Zion and won. Then they play Zion again in the championship and won the tournament. In the championship game Branagh Stowel severed 3 times back to back! When they played Zion it was a very close game. The score was eighteen to sixteen.

Then the soccer team got third in the Denver Christian tournament. The soccer team played Zion. In that game the Bethlehem Lutheran soccer team played hard. When the Zion soccer team scored one goal they played harder. The Bethlehem Lutheran School soccer team was not playing their best, they missed the soccer ball a lot. They ended up losing two - zero. Zion went to the champion game they played Saint John’s. Saint John’s won! The final score was two to one. Now the Varsity girls volleyball team has a tournament October 12th to October 13th their win to lose ratio seven to eight. Hopefully our Bethlehem Bobcats take first place!

The four kids who are playing football are Nick, Josh, Caleb, and Kaden. The football team practices at Faith high school and they have there home games at the high school too. This season there record is 0-3. They picked the same numbers they have for basketball, Nick’s number is twelve, Josh’s number is fifteen, Caleb’s number is forty-four, and Kaden's number is ten. Last year Josh scored a touchdown at Faith High School and he has scored a touchdown this year at Lutheran High. Faith plays there games on Saturdays. So they had a game this Saturday, September 22nd, up in Greely. They played against the Mustangs and lost thirty to eight.

Faith plays Lutheran seventh grade middle school football team on October 20th at Lutheran High School. They play the Cougars at Faith High School on October 23rd. I hope they win and all be safe. Thanks for reading!!

HOORAY!

Bethlehem held a tournament. It is a double elimination. There were ten teams. The volleyball team took third place in the tournament. First we went against the undefeated team St. John´s. We won because Branaugh Stowell did ten straight unbelievable serves in a row . Then Quinn Eckhoff did two amazing blocks. Quinn jumped and set it up. Ava Mason jumped up and spiked it to St. John´s  side of the court. At the end the game the Bethlehem  beat St. John´s twenty-five to twenty-two. Then we played Denver Waldorf’s second team. We didn’t have a good start. Denver Waldorf’s second team bet the Bethlehem twenty-five to eight in the first set. After the first set Denver Waldorf almost beat us, but then the Bethlehem pulled through. On the last set Mia Wade served a perfect serve over the net and on the floor. IT WAS AN ACE! By the end of that game Denver Waldorf beat the Bethlehem. That was one lose. After that we played Trinity Franktown. Trinity had already one loss. So if we beat them then were out of the tournament. On the first set Trinity had ten points more than Bethlehem had. Then we come back and won the first set. On the second set Trinity come back and won. On the third set the Bethlehem beat Trinity Franktown . Trinity Franktown was out of the tournament. So we have third place in the tournament. So then Bethlehem played Faith Christian.  In the first set Bethlehem beat Faith in the first set twenty-five to twenty-one. Branagh Stowell had a really good block. So then Faith Christian beat Bethlehem lost so then that means we are out of the tournament, but that means we took THIRD place in the tournament.

Soccer is Starting

One of the two sports right now is soccer and it is starting, Bethlehem hasn't played any games yet but we have had six practices so far. Our rivals are St. John’s and they don't know if we can beat them but we have a pretty good chance. There are a lot of games to play and if we put our minds to beating other teams we could win most of them. The two coaches are Pastor Ross and Mr. Miller (father of Jake and Ryan Miller). They have been coaching soccer for three seasons together on the Bethlehem Bobcats soccer field. There are seventeen players on Bethlehem Lutheran’s soccer team. If you play soccer you have to run and run and run.
When you play soccer you have to have a lot of stamina. To get stamina you have to run and try to go a bit faster than the last time you did it. There are only a few kids on Bethlehem's team that have a lot of stamina. Agility is an important part to soccer.  You have to have the speed to win the soccer ball. Bethlehem has a fast team so we can try to win the ball every time from the corner kicks or goal kicks. Because Bethlehem is fast has good stamina and agility we have a good chance of winning the tournament.
