Field Day is coming up
Yes? Yes, indeed field day is coming up. Some of you may be asking “What in the world is Field Day?” Well basically Field Day is where every kid from Bethlehem Lutheran School goes to a high school with all the other Lutheran schools and compete in different activities. Depending on your grade and how well you do in the event you may receive a ribbon. For our school and the other Lutheran schools most of the time it is held in Parker, Colorado at a school named Lutheran High School. The different events that you can choose from are Dash, 200 Meter, Standing Broad Jump, Long Jump, Ball Throw, Football Pass, Basketball Throw, Cross Country, and Shot Put. Out of all these options you may select three. Also the boys and girls will have a run off per grade to see who the fastest two boys and girls are. And whoever the two boys are will participates in the grade relay with two girls who did a race also. There is also a school relay where the fastest kid from each class participates in a relay where they run a relay race. These events will be held on a Friday ,May 10 the address is 11249 Newlin Gulch Blvd, Parker, CO 80134. Overall this is all about Field Day and if you would like to come and see this is all you will need.

Lent at Bethlehem!
The church season, Lent, has started at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School. Lent is the forty days leading up to Easter. That adds two more church services on Wednesday. At our church they add a service at ten o’clock A.M. and at seven o’clock P.M., there is a meal served for four dollars for adults, two dollars per kid, and fifteen dollars for a family pass. This meal is at five thirty o’clock P.M. in the gym. The money raised from the meal goes to the national youth gathering for the high schoolers. The high schoolers that are going are the ones who serve the food and run the cash register. During lent sixth graders, seventh graders, eighth graders, and there teachers all go to the ten o’clock A.M. service to worship. The seventh grade class has to take notes on the service because they have a quiz on the service after in religion class. There is always a theme for each day and for each day each class is supposed to make art for the church to put up on the screen during the service. On some of the weeks there is communion, that is where you go up kneel down at the railing and get wine and a bread wafer, the pastor will come around and give everyone a blessing. In the end we all know easter is coming at the end of lent.

Bethlehem’s Spirit Week!
This is a really weird week honestly because we look like the Powerpuff girls throughout the week. Bethlehem’s spirit week is where we dress up for Bethlehems sport teams. On Monday you are supposed to dress up in black and white in honor of the referees for how they take time out of their schedule for our basketball games. On Tuesday we are supposed to dress up with shirts that have circles to honor the basketball hoops for letting us take shots at it. On Wednesday we dress up nice in honor of our coaches for helping out our team and making us better players and also for taking time out of their work day to coach our team. On Thursday we can either dress up in pink or purple for Valentines day or you can dress up in your favorite jersey in honor of your favorite sports team or you can wear your Bethlehem sports team jersey in honor for your Bethlehem sports team. On Friday its Bethlehem spirit day where you can wear anything that has red, black, or something that is related to Bethlehem. At the ending of Friday we have a pep rally in the gym wear the varsity girls and boys dance on the gym floor in front of the school.

Fun at School?
Our school had National Lutheran Schools Week. It is when all Lutheran schools have fun activities about God. At Bethlehem we do fun stuff, like on Monday we had to wear red, white, and blue. Tuesday is wear pajamas. Wednesday is dress nice for the Lord. Thursday is crazy hair and clothes day, and each class gets to do a lip sync. Friday we got to wear school spirit wear. On Monday we wore a red, white, and blue outfit. You can wear your normal clothes and just put on an American flag and wear it to school. Tuesday you get to wear your pajamas to school. You don’t have to change your clothes in the morning. Usually you have to pay a dollar but this week you don’t have to. On Wednesday is dress nice to the Lord. That means no athletic clothes. As in button down shirts and cargo pants or cargo shirt. If your a girl you can wear a dress or fancy clothes. Thursday you get to have crazy hair like you can dye your hair for a day. As well you can wear crazy clothes like costumes. For the lip sync you pick a song and make up a dance for it. You can wear costumes and be weird. Friday we got to wear spirit wear.

Stores at Our School?
Our school has two awesome stores. Two sixth graders, Espen and Nate, created their own candy store. They sell several types of candy for ten cents a piece. They are open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00-8:10 ante meridiem (am). The candy store is called Sweetooth Inc. or just Sweetooth. They give one quarter or (twenty-five percent) of the money that they get from selling candy to our chapel offering which goes to different programs throughout the year. They only sell their candy to middle schooler’s because the elementary teachers didn’t want their students eating candy in class.
The other store at Bethlehem Lutheran School is our school store. Our National Junior Honor Society (or NJHS) runs the school store on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00-8:15 am. It is helpful because they sell school supplies, so if we lost our pen, paper, and other school supplies, they have them and can get them before any of our classes. The leader of the National Junior Honor Society is also our Science teacher the sixth graders religion teacher and home room teacher. Those are the two stores at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School.

Mission Experience
When our school was at chapel on October 3,2018. Michael Paulson from mission experience was talking about how he went to a small country called Haiti in Dominican Republic. He was going around the world and building orphanages. He teaches kid about god and build them up to do good and get a job. Michael Paulson was talking about that he went to Haiti and was going to build many orphanages. At school we are giving our money to mission experience because we want kids to have to have a warm place to sleep and give kids food. Our school helps so that the can have a school, a church, and a place to play. The kids get to play and learn. They don’t get adopted but get to go out and get a good job to get money. One night they lost their land. Michael Paulson was looking around for land and he didn’t find land so he went back to America. Then he got a call by a guy and said “I found some land that is not a lot of money”. Michael said “I don’t have money”. So then a guy heard about Michael and gave him $100,000.Michael bought the land and now is building a eating hall, gym, and a sleeping hall. So at the end Bethlehem is giving money every Wednesday to Mission Experience.

What's Happening
Attention, attention! In Physical Education (PE) the seventh and eighth grade boys beat the seventh and eighth grade girls in volleyball. The first set in volleyball the boys beat the girls 20-17, and the second set boys beat them 20-18.
The boys and the girls are going to play each other again. They are going to play football but they are going to mix the teams up. One of the rumor sports are going to be kickball, and the boys and girls are versing each other.
Where is the next dining out night you may ask, never mind I just asked. The next dining out place is at Noodles and Company on Thursday, October 9th from four to eight p.m. Twenty-five percent of all the sales brought in from Bethlehem guests will go to Bethlehem.
The next youth group coming up is Freaky Friday. It is September 28th from six to eight p.m. There is going to be pizza for a dollar for per slice. Games will be played and prizes will be given out. Freaky Friday is only for the old 7th and 8th graders, no 6th graders are aloud, but freshmen from highs school are invited to, that went to Bethlehem last year.

Changed Year
Here at Bethlehem, this school year is really a fresh new school year. This year things have changed from last year. Both Mr. richter and Mr.Buerck changed the middle school periods from forty-five to fifty minutes to an hour long, so they changed from eight periods to seven periods. What it changed is that last year, teachers would teach the class that day’s lesson, then dismiss the class with homework or any priorities the class needed. This year, teachers taught their students the day’s lesson, but because of the longer period, classes have more time to do their homework or other priorities. Last year there was five total teachers including Ms.Taylor, Mr.Beurck, Mrs.Roybal, Mr. Deardoff, and Mr.Bradley. This year only Ms.Taylor, Mr. Beurck, Mrs. Roybal, and Mr.Bradley. Ms.Taylor taught science, S.T.E.M lab, and the spanish language. Mr. Beurck teaches math and directs study hall. Mrs.Roybal teaches english, social studies, and latin. Mr.Bradley teaches physical education and computer media. Mr.Deardoff, the old english teacher, is no longer here at Bethlehem. The subject of english was then assigned to Mrs.Roybal to teach. You can see that the year has changed from big things to small things.

Our Dine Outs
Our school eats! Our PTL, or Parent Teacher League, picks different restaurants to eat at. We get a little bit of the money that the restaurants makes and that goes to the PTL, and they use the money to pay for the next dine out. This time our school will eat at Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburger on September 12, 2018 at 4 post meridiem to 8 post meridiem (or pm). Our school does a dine out every month during our school year. Many of our families go to these restaurants and hang out with their friends if they come.
I have been to a few of the dine outs in the past. I like it cause I see my friends, classmates, and people I like to hang out with. Last year we went to Chick Fil A. We also went to Chipotle. Also we ate at Beau Jo’s. We went to Hu Hot.
We would like it if you join our school, then you can come eat and hangout with us. I wonder what our next dine out is. We will see you when you come join us at Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburger.
